with professional advice on: Healthy Happy Hair on a Budget

"Getting healthy hair can be as inexpensive as looking in your refrigerator. No need to spend mega bucks on deep conditioners that contain many of the natural ingredients you can find right in the grocery store. Next time your there pick up a few avocados, a jar of mayonnaise and honey and have a beauty day at home. Just mash up the avocado and apply to your hair from scalp to ends, put it in a clip and wrap a towel around your hair to keep your hair warm (which helps product to penetrate the core of each strand). Let it sit while you catch up on your favorite show!! You can also use the mayo and the honey in the same way or mix them all together. Be sure to rinse with warm water if using the honey as it can get sticky!"

This Week we are featuring the very talented

"I am often asked how a couple can increase the atmosphere in their reception and create a great party mood while still working on a budget. My best advice is to tell them to spend the money on up lighting. by choosing to use up lighting in the reception, the room can be completely transformed. Up lighting increases the quality of the photos and video and is money well spent. For those on a budget, I would recommend forgoing cocktail music in lieu of up lighting. Often the venue already has music piped in during cocktail hour. Also, this is the guests first chance to chat with each other and are generally unaware of the music playing. by starting the dj services with the actual reception, the couple can spend the extra money on up lighting which will have a far greater effect on the ambiance of the room and the party as a whole." -Josh

Pro Tip Thursday

Welcome to
Pro Tip Thursday
Today we wanted to share with you a tip in wedding photography… "First Look"
Please check out this slideshow from
Kimberly Photography of First Look Photos

For Most Brides and Grooms, the moment that they first lay eyes on each other is the moment that they want to carry in their hearts forever. The problem is, however, that this generally occurs as the bride appears at the start of the ceremony in front of hundreds of guests.

Given the crazy wedding day schedule, this means that there is no time for the Bride and Groom to truly connect emotionally, speak with one another, or savor the moment. From ceremony to reception there is little time to spend a quiet moment alone!

A GREAT alternative is to arrange for your moment of  “First Sight” or “First Look” to occur several hours before the ceremony. This allows you to enjoy quiet time together before becoming caught up in the whirlwind of your special event.

What makes a “First Look” so remarkable is that your wedding photographer will effortlessly capture this special moment from a discrete distance, allowing for bridal portraits and formal photos to still be taken afterwards. Thus allowing the bride and groom a private moment ALONE!

Kimberly Romano with Kimberly Photography has offered some great advice:
"This is by far the most romantic moment I have ever witnessed between a Bride and Groom… after capturing weddings for over 8 years! We were so excited when a couple of ours decided to do a First Look, we knew we had a huge opportunity before us to capture some incredible moments. We had been dreaming about what we would do at the shoot and exactly how we could make this as special as possible for these two. We decided to set the Groom up inside the park and have the Bride approach him (as his back was turned of course!), tap him on the shoulder and well… they could take it from there. She walks up to him… gently touches his shoulder… he turns and is in complete awe of his beautiful bride. We just sat back and shot of as many images as we could and were amazed at the incredible moments we captured.

For the rest of the session, the Bride and Groom couldn't stop smiling and because there were not any distractions, we were able to get so many shots that well, chances are, we would not have been able to get if we waited until after the ceremony. We can understand a Bride and Grooms concern about how a First Look can take away that special moment, when you see your Groom at the end of the aisle and as he awaits his bride to walk towards him. TRUST ME…. the moment will still be there. We highly recommend talking with your professional photographer about how you can beneift from a First Look. I wish I would have done this for my wedding."

Ideas We Love

Welcome to
"Ideas We Love"
This week our FRESH idea to keep you inspired is a...

We LOVE this custom paper bouquet for your wedding rehearsal, as it is a unique keepsake! These bouquets incorporate two popular bridal shower activities - the making of a bouquet to use at your wedding rehearsal and the writing of advice and well wishes for the bride. We love that these bouquets are made up of paper peonies and that each flower has 5 petals which can be written on.
So if y ou are looking for a non-traditional practice bouquet
for your wedding rehearsal, this is a GREAT idea!

with professional advice on: LED Lighting

"Lighting can bring your event a defined ambiance! Whether your look is to be “fun and funky” or elegant – lighting your room can create the atmosphere. And the great news is the addition of lighting does not have to be over the top expensive. Now, everyone’s room and vision may vary, so each lighting package will vary. My advice is to have Jamie coordinate with her lighting company to determine what package can be created for your event.

Some things to watch out for: I often find that lighting orders overlap. Sometimes we see the DJ or band production bring lighting that is also ordered through an event décor company or lighting company. In other words… I arrive at an event to find the client has ordered the same lighting effects twice! The other pitfall that we have seen is that two vendors bring lighting that does not compliment each other. At one event we provided an LED illuminated dance floor to be utilized for a presentation at a corporate event. The production company had multiple moving spot lights. Both the illuminated floor and spots were awesome as stand alone elements. But the spots washed out any color from the floor. That is why it is so important to have just one coordinator doing just that – coordinating. It will save your budget (no double orders) and assist in making sure all the pieces fit together.

LED lighting has developed greatly - which means great effects at great prices for the consumer. IM Events has a new line of battery operated wireless LED lights. There are no cables or cords so they may be placed anywhere. It’s a clean look and relatively little labor. With a remote control the lights can change colors during the night. We recently did a wedding where the room and the tables (illuminated tables!) were all white – a very elegant feel. With each course of the meal the room changed color- soft colors. Then, when the party started…the room became colorful, fun and funky. The options are endless! Talk to Jamie about your vision and she can make it happen." - Glenn

Ideas We Love

Welcome to
"Ideas We Love"
This week our FRESH idea to keep you inspired is...
Wishing Tree

We love the idea of a custom Wishing Tree for your wedding, anniversary party, baby shower, or ANY event! The Wishing Tree originated as a Dutch wedding custom where guests are given a piece of paper, either shaped like a leaf or made of card stock. The guests write their wishes to the bride and groom and then hang it on the tree. We have even worked with some Dutch Brides that are given a "surprise" Wishing Tree... which creates a unique element of entertainment for the reception.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of a Wishing Tree as it creates a magnificent centerpiece
and exceptional memories for your special day.

with professional advice on: Birdcage Veils

"We all know you need something old, new, borrowed and blue for your wedding day..so why incorporate something old and new into your wedding day hairstyle. The birdcage is veil is very vintage, but has made a comeback on the wedding scene in a huge way. Brides who are looking for that classy and glamorous wedding day look of old, but don't want to stick with the traditional long veil may want to try this elegant "new" look. You can also style these veils with a beautiful jeweled statement peice or oversized flower, basically whatever you choose!!" - Holly
