Pro Tip Thursday

Welcome to
Pro Tip Thursday
This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
with professional advice on: Keeping "Summer" Out of Your Hair

"We all know that in florida summer is totally roasting, which means lots of sun on those strands. Not to mention chlorine and saltwater can leave your hair dry and lackluster. Here's a few things to do to keep those strands looking beautiful.

1. Be sure to wet your hair with regular water before entering the pool or any chlorinated water. If your hair is already wet, less chlorine can't enter. And rinse again when your done swimming.
2. Keep a hat on when sun bathing or for those long hours outside. This helps your color not to fade so quickly and the sun not to dry your hair out.
3. Do a weekly deep conditioning treatment, no matter how much you avoid the sun your hair will always benefit from this! If you are in the pool alot be sure to use a clarifying shampoo once a week as well, this will pull all the chlorine out that may remain in your hair and cause it to dry out!"

This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
with professional advice on: Healthy Happy Hair on a Budget

"Getting healthy hair can be as inexpensive as looking in your refrigerator. No need to spend mega bucks on deep conditioners that contain many of the natural ingredients you can find right in the grocery store. Next time your there pick up a few avocados, a jar of mayonnaise and honey and have a beauty day at home. Just mash up the avocado and apply to your hair from scalp to ends, put it in a clip and wrap a towel around your hair to keep your hair warm (which helps product to penetrate the core of each strand). Let it sit while you catch up on your favorite show!! You can also use the mayo and the honey in the same way or mix them all together. Be sure to rinse with warm water if using the honey as it can get sticky!"

This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
with professional advice on: Birdcage Veils

"We all know you need something old, new, borrowed and blue for your wedding day..so why incorporate something old and new into your wedding day hairstyle. The birdcage is veil is very vintage, but has made a comeback on the wedding scene in a huge way. Brides who are looking for that classy and glamorous wedding day look of old, but don't want to stick with the traditional long veil may want to try this elegant "new" look. You can also style these veils with a beautiful jeweled statement peice or oversized flower, basically whatever you choose!!" - Holly

Have your hairstylist give you a shampoo and pro blowout that day before you head out to your practice round, and not only will you feel like you stepped out of a hair commercial, you won't have to do a thing to your hair before the wedding day style!! Not to mention your wedding day stylist will thank you for already prepped hair:)" - Holly

Make a Change!

"Want that glamorous updo for the ceremony, but also wanting to let your hair down for the reception? Why not a hairstyle change? Have your stylist stay through your ceremony and plan a 15 minute slot for her to change your style, following your photos. Pull all those pins out and let the curls fall. Or if you wearing it down for the ceremony and plan on dancing the night away, why not throw it up for the reception. And won't it be fun to see yourself in those beautiful professional photos with 2 different looks:)!!"

with professional advice on:

"Leave your hair & makeup to the professionals"

When it comes to your wedding day, your hair & makeup is just as important as the dress you are wearing. Not only is your look important, it is imperative that you find a stylist that you trust, are confident in and have seen and love their work. So where to start?! Well, here are few tips to help you find the perfect stylist and have a great wedding day hair & makeup experience!

1. If at all possible, start looking for your hairstylist/makeup artist 6 months prior to the wedding day! This will allow time for you to shop around.

2. Although you may have a stylist who does cut/color for you currently, don't assume they do updo's or they do them well. Ask them to show you some of their work. And be sure if you do decide to go to the salon on wedding day that you check ahead and make sure they have appointments available for your maids as well. Leave ample time after leaving the salon to get back and get ready. If you will be rushed for time on that day, a good alternative is to hire an on location hair/makeup team, this will allow everyone to be in the same location getting ready all together and tends to create a more relaxing experience.

3. Before you make a choice, always consult anyone you know has been involved with weddings and had their hair/makeup done for formal events. Your wedding planners/coordinators can be key here, as they have worked on numerous weddings and know the talent in the industry and also the reliability of stylist/artists.

4. Schedule a Trial run at least 2 months (more if possible) prior, so if any changes need to be made to the style, there is adequate time to discuss or redo the style.

5. Bring photos of looks that you like, any veils, head peices, etc that you will be wearing to your trial. Do not feel intimidated to let the stylist/artist know if you are not pleased with the look and would like to try something else.

6. Last but definitely not least make sure the stylist and yourself are on the same page for all your scheduled dates and times and location information. Also, whoever you choose develop a long term relationship with them, as you never know when you may need them for another event.

Happy Styling!:)
