"Weddings, unfortunately for some, are more stressful than necessary. There is a lot to do in planning, coordinating family and getting through the day... but the stress can be lessened in a few ways. Here are 3 tips I've learned over the years of officiating weddings that I believe can make one of the best days of your life even better."
1. When choosing an officiant, choose one that best fits your personalities and style. I would say this is one of the most vital, if not the most vital piece in regards to your ceremony. DJ's can play the wrong music, the weather can turn bad, and the party will still go on and you'll get over it. But if the officiant isn't in tune with you as a couple and understand what you want for your ceremony the wedding will be lacking. The officiant in many ways sets the tone for the whole day. That person holds the key piece in their hands, putting you two together. Don't settle for someone who doesn't meet your expectations and fit your personalities simply because you are in a hurry to complete your details.
2. Relax and enjoy the day. As much as you plan and your wedding planner plans, the fact is things will go wrong and not everything will be "perfect." But that's ok. Embrace it. Let the 6 year old ring barer or flower girl run off the stage or start singing during the ceremony. It's ok. Those things are part of the fun. Part of the celebration. These things provide great stories for later. Otherwise, it would just be boring. The wedding day is supposed to be fun and celebratory, not stuffy.
3. Enjoy the process. The wedding day is obviously one of the greatest days in your life, but the planning process should be too. There's so many memories and beautiful moments in those months leading up to the "big day." Don't get so lost in the details and stress of planning that you miss those moments and memories.
