Ideas We Love - Hair Care

Welcome to
Ideas We Love

Yay! The days are dwindling down and the event you’ve been
waiting for is drawing closer and closer! No matter what
the event may be, the one thing that us girls constantly
contemplate after the thought of “What am I going to wear?!” is…
How should my hair look??

Hair is one of those staples of a woman’s outfit that is
almost as important as what she is actually wearing.
It not only shows taste and fashion but it pulls your entire
outfit together completing your look. No matter what your
hair color or length are, there are always ways to create a
hairdo that wows the crowd and will never be forgotten.

Keep these tips in mind while planning your look for your event
to make sure your hair looks as perfect as the event itself!

1) Don’t drastically change your cut or color the day of
the big event. Many of us want to create a new look and
make our hair “perfect” the day of the big event, but dying
or cutting your hair in a drastic way the day of your event
could create complications. Instead, talk to your stylist about
coloring/cutting your hair 1-2 weeks in advance so corrections can
be made if necessary with the extra time you have allowed yourself.

 2) The Olive-Oil Diet. Looking for more elasticity and
conditioning? Use a comb to rake a tablespoon of olive oil
through the hair once a week to create the nourishing look you desire.
You can also apply olive oil before going to the beach to prevent
your hair from becoming dehydrated from the sun and salt water.

3) Withstand that burst of cold. While in the shower,
right before you get out turn on the cold water and let it run through
your hair. This simple trick seals your cuticle while creating
a sleek finishing look to your strands.

4) Frizz-me-not. Want to keep away that frizz
that constantly seems to linger on your hair whenever you
get out of the shower? Before you get out, try to wring out as
much water as you can and then use a paper towel to squeeze
out the rest. Then, let air dry 5 to 10 minutes before blow drying
or styling. By not wrapping up your hair in a towel, it prevents your
locks from sitting in a hot and humid space,
creating that unwanted frizz.

5) The Oktoberfest Rinse. Try this home remedy:
Mix half a liter of beer with lukewarm water and pour into a
spray bottle, spritzing on dry hair. Leave in 20 minutes and
then rinse to keep hair strong and glossy.

6) Blonde Secrets from the Czechs. Looking for
a neutral blonde color? Boil the skins of 6 yellow onions in
4 cups of water and use as a rinse. This is how Czech
women achieve their beautiful blonde hair.
The best part: the rinse doesn’t smell!

7) As thick as a horsetail. Looking for longer, thicker
and ultimately healthier hair? Try Mane N’ Tail Horse Shampoo
which helps you to achieve your desired look.
Use like regular shampoo.

Pro Tip Thursday

Welcome to

This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
with professional advice on:
Accessorize your hair for the holidays!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! And for most of us that means we have some fun gathering, holiday party or winter wedding to attend. So it's time to get creative and have fun accessorizing your hairstyle. The key when choosing the accessories is to not over do it. Too much bling is not a good thing! Rather than alot of individual gems all over your head, pick one statement peice such as a feather, flower, headband or beautiful brooch to compliment your hairstyle. Not only should it compliment your hairstyle, but keep in mind it needs to compliment your attire as well. I love to find great accessories online by custom designers, that make unique one of a kind peices that don't break the bank. You will find yourself looking for a reason to wear them over and over again. Check out Etsy stores for amazing peices. And have a Happy Holidays!

Pro Tip Thursday

Welcome to

This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
with professional advice on: Fall into Change

"Fall is here and I couldn't be more excited...not only is it my favorite season, but for hair that means change!! Especially hair color, if you're brave enough! As a stylist for 10 years now, I've taken many ladies from blonde to red to brown to back blonde again and know how hard change can be sometimes on the going in side, but on the coming out side how fun it can be too!!

So here's some helpful tips for stepping out of your comfort zone and making those changes!!!

For you dark ladies out there that may need a switch, consider adding a few bright red peices in your dark to give that fall feel. If you need to keep your hair professional for work, ask your stylist to place the brighter pieces where they can be hidden by your part.

For the blondies out there who are brave enough to step out of there box, darken it up! A rich chocolaty brown or an auburn brown with some hints of red is always fun for fall If you still want dimension, ask your stylist to leave out a few lighter peices for around your face. This will give you a brighter feel.

If you're a blonde bombshell and not willing to take your blondes to dark, that's perfectly alright. There are a few ways to feel like you had a change without going dramatically different. For this fall Buttery Blondes are the hit. If you have bright light highlights, platinum blonde hair, or just an all over very light blonde color...consider toning down those blondes with a more slightly butter golden blonde. A toner is a simple process your stylist can do that goes over the blonde you already are wearing!

Whatever your preference, fall is a time of change and whatever color you decide to change to, embrace it! Don't fight it, if you love it everyone else will too!!!

This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
with professional advice on: Birdcage Veils

"We all know you need something old, new, borrowed and blue for your wedding day..so why incorporate something old and new into your wedding day hairstyle. The birdcage is veil is very vintage, but has made a comeback on the wedding scene in a huge way. Brides who are looking for that classy and glamorous wedding day look of old, but don't want to stick with the traditional long veil may want to try this elegant "new" look. You can also style these veils with a beautiful jeweled statement peice or oversized flower, basically whatever you choose!!" - Holly
