We love love love creating Inspiration Boards!

A wedding inspiration board, also known as a wedding story board, is a collage of images and photographs which represent the spirit and tone of your wedding or event. This collage will help decide the wedding’s color palette, theme, decorating ideas and other details, all of which – as the name says – will be the inspiration for your wedding.

Creating wedding inspiration boards also helps to stimulate creativity.

If you find yourself asking... How do I make an inspiration board?

The Answer is easy, just follow these steps below:

Get inspired. Gather photos as you find decor and/or concepts that inspire you (cut them out of magazines, or copy and paste into a desktop file if you are exploring online). You may have already decided on colors and theme, and if so, this is your opportunity to fine-tune it. If not, this will be a time that you narrow down and make decisions about overall wedding concepts. Sometimes I collect photos as if I am planning multiple events, and then decide based on which idea comes together best.
Make a Collage. Making a collage so that you can see everything together is the key part in the process that many brides skip altogether. I see so many girls with 3-inch binders, packed to the gills with thousands of magazine clippings, who never put the concept together before their wedding day. Placing visual representations of everything of everything together on a board so you can see it, will help you visualize the key concepts and colors of your event, and will give you confidence in your vision going forward. I like the idea of using a physical bulletin board of some kind, but it might be easier to use images that you cut and paste from the Internet.

"I adore Makeup in every way. How it can change your mood and bring you tolife. I was influenced by my Grandmother. Seeing her collection of antique lipsticks and rouge gave me my unique style which has a vintage classic feel.
Weddings have always been one of my favorite events to be apart of. I lovehelping with the finishing touches on the day a women has waited for her wholelife. Being there for the bride and helping her to relax and feel beautiful isso important to me.

My official makeup training began at Permanent Choices Training Center inAlameda, Ca.

Choosing a printing method for your Invitations –

"These days a lot of brides are unaware of the many printing options are available for wedding invitations. Most brides instantly think the only available option is digital printing. Today there are more printing options then ever before that can fit within any type of budget. Each printing method offers its own distinct style and allows the bride to really set the tone and style for the event it reflects. Three of the most common printing methods are: letterpress, thermography, and digital (flat printing).

Letterpress – Letterpress is truly an art form. It began in the 14th century as an alternative to laborious calligraphy. Type (individual letters) was hand set to form sentences within the letterpress base. Ink is then rolled over the type and the type plate is then pressed leaving an indentation into thick, soft paper. Each invitation is handfed and pressed leaving a subtly unique impression. There is nothing more pleasing to the eye and feel.

Thermography – thermography also known as “raised printing”. Unlike embossing where the paper is actually raised; the thermography effect is created by a powder that is melted over the flat printed ink. The high temperature causes the ink to boil and rise. The result is a finished piece with a raised effect you can feel and the raised ink gives off a shiny appearance.

Digital - also known as “flat printing” is the most commonly known option for affordability. Invitations are printed using a commercial quality press, resulting in bold saturated color and crisp text. The finished product has a flat finish.

We consider each invitation to be an individual piece of art that represents the bride’s personality & their wedding details. Here at Seaside Invitations we have eliminated the notion that digital printed invites are the only affordable option. By owning our very own antique press we have mastered the art of letterpress printing and we are able to offer a once pricey printing option at an affordable rate by printing in house. No matter which printing option suits your taste, we are happy to create a beautiful invitation that fits your needs."

This month we are Featuring the Amazing

Natalie Clamp with Chic Sweets

If you need a Candy Bar, Dessert Table, or Sweet Treat... Natalie is the BEST!

Here are just a few of Natalie’s tips on how to create a great candy and dessert table:

1. Candies and Desserts: The table can be a great focal point in a room/venue and I hate to see jars half full or a lot of empty space on the table. The table is meant to “wow” your guests so after designing the table, we then figure out how much dessert or candy you will need depending on the number of guests. Having plenty of candy or desserts also allows guests to take desserts home as favors, and that is the best part.

Giving your guests a variety to choose from is important as well. I love to mix desserts with candy. Think, “small bites.” Guests should feel like they can go back and forth and even, “graze” a bit if they want to.

2. Artistry/Design: Every time I sit down and get ready to sketch, I think about the couple or client and try to incorporate something that inspires me and create my table around it. Is it a monogram? Color palette? Design on an invitation? Let the table and the design tell a story about the event. If I feel stuck or need some inspiration, I will take a break and open a Martha Stewart magazine or check out my favorite blogs (like, Confetti Events). Dessert tables have become increasingly popular for some time and there are some great parties out there, with dessert tables designed and inspired by moms, party planners, designers, etc.

4. Keep color schemes to 1-2 colors: I think it’s important to take control of the color scheme and not go too crazy. The most modern, contemporary table we’ve done was an all-white winter table. Also working with unique color palettes is always fun: orange/gray and yellow/black and all-white. I’m currently in love with just about any color and gray. It just makes any color pop!

5. Backdrop, backdrop, backdrop: Think of the backdrop as a continuation of the table. A great wallpaper and lighting can completely change the look of your table. Sometimes we even look at different hanging elements such as paper lanterns or not that long ago we did a table with butterflies and hung them from the ceiling. It looked great and distracted from the plain wall.

6. Linens: Linens go hand in hand with a backdrop. A great linen will elevate the look of your table. Go with a lighter fabric in the springtime and heavier, like a silk or taffeta for the fall/winter season. Typically, we’ll work with the planner or venue coordinator to ensure that whichever linen is chosen complements the overall feel and look of the room.

Sand Ceremony Frames

We LOVE these Sand ceremony frames!

What a great new idea on an old tradition... how FUN!

Here's how it works: during the ceremony, the sand fills up a clear container that is inside the frame using an included stainless steel funnel, creating a beautiful effect. And because the container slides in and out of the frame through the back, you can easily replace the picture inside the frame at any time with no mess. Included with the frame are two glass pouring vases.

You can use an engagement picture for the ceremony, then a wedding picture afterwards! Instead of holding a picture, you could also engrave the frame with two lines of text or a graphic of your choice.

Quick Tip: Shaping Your Eyebrows

"Brows (in my opinion) are the most important feature of the face!
They can make or break your makeup and give expressions that you might not want.

One of my favorite tools to remove hair quickly and painlessly without causing redness are Japanese Razors. They are so amazing! You can quickly remove hair before your event and be able to apply your makeup
- Hide quoted text -
right away. I love that they remove the baby fuzz that tweezers can't, especially for closeups.

*Pro Tip* When using tweezers, try coloring out the hair you want to remove with a white pencil. This makes the shape of your brow stand out and you will see what it will look like before removing any hair.
If redness does occur after tweezing I love to dab on a little witch hazel."
