"As you know I LOVE color and try to convey to my brides the importance of the linens vs the flowers vs the lighting and how they all need to work together to make a nice cohesive look. Here is a great webpage from Sasha Souza about the affects of color. Sasha is a regularly published and award winning event designer. She has offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Tennessee. I love her!! What an inspiration she is to our industry."

They picked a random couple getting married at the City Clerk’s Office in Manhattan and threw them a surprise wedding reception. The couple was treated to dancing, toasts, cake, and gifts, all with complete strangers... too FUNNY!

Welcome to

This Week we are featuring the Amazing...
 Holly Nazario of Collective Creations

with professional advice on:

"Leave your hair & makeup to the professionals"

When it comes to your wedding day, your hair & makeup is just as important as the dress you are wearing. Not only is your look important, it is imperative that you find a stylist that you trust, are confident in and have seen and love their work. So where to start?! Well, here are few tips to help you find the perfect stylist and have a great wedding day hair & makeup experience!

1. If at all possible, start looking for your hairstylist/makeup artist 6 months prior to the wedding day! This will allow time for you to shop around.

2. Although you may have a stylist who does cut/color for you currently, don't assume they do updo's or they do them well. Ask them to show you some of their work. And be sure if you do decide to go to the salon on wedding day that you check ahead and make sure they have appointments available for your maids as well. Leave ample time after leaving the salon to get back and get ready. If you will be rushed for time on that day, a good alternative is to hire an on location hair/makeup team, this will allow everyone to be in the same location getting ready all together and tends to create a more relaxing experience.

3. Before you make a choice, always consult anyone you know has been involved with weddings and had their hair/makeup done for formal events. Your wedding planners/coordinators can be key here, as they have worked on numerous weddings and know the talent in the industry and also the reliability of stylist/artists.

4. Schedule a Trial run at least 2 months (more if possible) prior, so if any changes need to be made to the style, there is adequate time to discuss or redo the style.

5. Bring photos of looks that you like, any veils, head peices, etc that you will be wearing to your trial. Do not feel intimidated to let the stylist/artist know if you are not pleased with the look and would like to try something else.

6. Last but definitely not least make sure the stylist and yourself are on the same page for all your scheduled dates and times and location information. Also, whoever you choose develop a long term relationship with them, as you never know when you may need them for another event.

Happy Styling!:)

Photog Advice

Here is some great Photography Advice
that we wanted to share with you...
To some couples, hiring a photographer may be the most important decision they make during the process of planning their big day! Finding and hiring a professional photographer is a sizable investment, not only in money, but in time as well.

By doing your research and hiring a professional that suits your style, you can rest assured that he or she is going to capture your day exactly how you want. But achieving the best possible results does not end with the signing of the contract. Below are a few simple things you can do as a client before and on your wedding day to help you and your photographer capture the photographs of your dreams.

  1. Develop a personal relationship with your photographer. By the time your wedding day arrives, you should consider your photographer a friend, not just another vendor.
  2. Make a shot list. This will eliminate any regret after Aunt Sue has left town and won’t be back for another 5 years, but you never got your picture taken with her.
  3. Be yourself. Pay special attention to your hands, they are a good indication of how tense you really are. Relax your hands and the rest of you will follow. Don’t rush your wedding day. When planning the schedule of the day, allot a realistic amount of time for each separate event. Pace your day and cherish every moment, it is, after all, a once in a lifetime experience (hopefully).
  4. Enjoy your wedding day. This is where a professional coordinator can help! Whether you choose someone to walk you through the whole planning process, or just to be there day-of, it is crucial to your sanity to have someone you can trust will take care of everything.

Pro Tip Thursday

This Week we are featuring a phenomenal Tampa Makeup Artist...
the ever so Talented Jess Waldrop
with professional Makeup advice.
Beauty Tip 101: How to Create a Smokey Eye

"I love smoky eyes, but sometimes they can look more like a black eye then a sultry eye!

The best way to start is with a crease-free base all over your eye lid to keep your shadow from creasing and stay on all day. I prefer using a fluffy eyeshadow brush to apply any cream textured base to the eyes.

Next choose four colors to make your smokey look go from light to dark.

Blend your second to the darkest color over your lid beginning at your lash line and blend up to your crease.

With a crease brush, blend your second to the lightest color in your crease. This will buff out any of your lid color and give the appearance of an airbrushed look.

*Pro Tip* You can almost always use the same color in your crease if you choose a neutral skin tone color that is a few shades darker then your skin tone.

Use your pencil brush and buff your darkest color into your lash line from the top to bottom lid.

*Pro Tip* You can also take a smokey black pencil and line your inner eye. Then dab black shadow over top of the pencil to keep it from moving. Water resistant pencils work best for the inner eye.

Blend your lightest color on your brow bone and finish the look off with pitch black mascara."
